iPhone 11 Vs iPhone Xr
Starting from performance, the iPhone 11 has a better processor. Apple’s A13 SoC for the smartphone packs 1.5 billion more transistors than the iPhone XR’s A12. The chip also has better thermal management due to efficient switching between voltage domains. Additionally, the new Phone is better equipped for computing neural computations which means that AR apps and Face ID will work better on the smartphone. Finally, the A13’s CPU’s high-performance cores are 20% faster and 30% power efficient over their predecessors, and the CPU’s power-efficient cores as 20% faster and 40% power efficient over their predecessors.
Apple’s A12 chip powering the iPhone XR is clocked at 2.49GHz and the chip marked the company’s first serious foray into neural computing. By all accounts, the A12 is comparable to the processors that power current Android flagships – a list of devices that includes Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 lineup. But, the fact that Apple’s paid serious attention to the A13’s neural computations and machine learning parameters make the chip superior to its predecessor, and as a result, the iPhone 11 is better than the iPhone XR in this area.
Selfie Camera: The iPhone Xr Has A 7
- The iPhone 11’s selfie camera can take 4K video up to 60 frames per second. The iPhone XR takes 1080p video up to 60 frames per second.
- The iPhone 11’s selfie camera can take slow-motion “slofie” videos at 1080p resolution and 120 frames per second.
- The iPhone 11’s selfie camera comes with Apple’s “next-generation” smart HDR.
Performance Battery Life And Charging
The iPhone 11 comes equipped with Apples still-strong A13 Bionic processor. Its fast and powerful; in fact, its up to 20% faster and 40% more power-efficient than the Apple A12 Bionic chip in the iPhone XR. That said, the XR still has enough power to satisfy most peoples needs. Both these iPhones can run the latest games and apps with ease.
Both phones have the same fast charging and wireless charging capabilities, but the iPhone 11 packs a 3,111mAh, as opposed to the iPhone XRs 2,942mAh cell. While the XR already had excellent battery life, the 11 goes just a little further, so were going to give this opening round to the newer phone.
Winner: iPhone 11
Youd be forgiven for being unable to tell the iPhone XR and 11 apart. Pretty much the only major difference is the addition of the extra camera lens on the iPhone 11, and a selection of different colors. Dimensions, weight, build materials its all pretty much the same, and it makes this category a tough one to judge.
Thankfully, theres more to it than just looks. Physical durability across the two iPhones is similar, with aluminum and glass builds, so getting a case is the best way to avoid potentially costly repairs, but the iPhone 11 has improved water-resistance, sporting an IP68-rating thats superior to the iPhone XRs IP67-rating. That means it can be submerged in up to 2 meters of water for 30 minutes without damage whereas the iPhone XR can only handle depths of 1 meter. The iPhone 11 wins narrowly.

iPhone Xr Vs iPhone 11 Camera And Battery
Where both devices really start to differentiate themselves is in both camera and battery.;
The iPhone XR offers a perfectly decent 12MP wide camera, but the iPhone 11 adds a second lens for Ultra Wide shots. It also adds “Night Mode” for taking pictures in low-light scenarios, as well as a brighter true-tone flash.;
The iPhone 11 has a 12MP camera on the front, too, while the iPhone XR only offers 7MP. Both offer portrait mode, but the iPhone 11 adds Stage, Stage Mono, and High-Key Mono options to the Natural, Studio and Contour images you can take on the XR.;
If you want to take videos with your front camera, only the iPhone 11’s offers 4K video at 24, 30, or 60 fps, while it also supports slo-mo. Thankfully, the rear cameras are essentially the same, save for the iPhone 11’s ability to take extended dynamic range videos at 60 fps rather than 30.;
When it comes to battery life, the iPhone 11 is, again, the winner – albeit only just, according to Apple’s benchmarks. It only offers an extra hour of video playback on top of the iPhone XR’s already impressive battery life, but given the difference between making it home to charge your phone and potentially being stranded without it, we’d opt for that extra hour as a safety net, if nothing else.
We’ve also found it to actually last even longer in real-world testing.

iPhone Se Vs iPhone Xr: Design
One of the biggest differences between the iPhone SE and iPhone XR is their sheer size. With its 4.7-inch display, the iPhone SE is all about having a compact design thats easy to use with one hand, while the iPhone XR delivers a much bigger 6.1-inch screen.;
The iPhone SE measures 5.45 x 2.65 x 0.29 inches and weighs 5.22 ounces compared to 5.94 x 2.98 x 0.33 inches and 6.84 ounces for the iPhone XR. So youll definitely notice the difference in size and heft in your hands and in your pocket.
The iPhone XR has a more modern look overall, because it has narrower bezels than the iPhone SE and uses Face ID for unlocking the device. The iPhone XR is closer to a full-screen design. The iPhone SE has a Touch ID/home button underneath its display.
Both the iPhone SE and iPhone XR have glass backs and aluminum bands around the sides. Theyre also both IP67 water resistant, so they can get splashed or even submerged for up to 30 minutes.
If you prefer more color options, the iPhone XR is the way to go. The iPhone XR is available in six colors, including yellow, white, coral, black, blue and red. Apple keeps it simple for the iPhone SE with just black, white and red.
iPhone 11 Vs iPhone Xr Specs And Features
Inside the iPhone XR youll find a raft of high-end internals, albeit it ones that arent on par with the flagship XS. The 6.1-inch display is LCD, the amount of RAM smaller and the resolution much lower.
What we appreciate with the iPhone XR is that it has the same chipset as the XS. And once again with the iPhone 11 it has the same chipset as the pricier Pro and Pro Max models.;Inside the iPhone 11 youll find the A13 chipset, an upgrade on the A12 inside the iPhone XR. This is very fast chip thats capable of churning through any app or game you throw at it. Thing is the iPhone XR still remains fast and we dont think youll notice much difference in terms of pure speed.

iOS 13 is available across both devices and itll come pre-loaded on the iPhone 11. This latest version of Apples mobile operating system comes with a new dark mode that turns the whole UI, along with native apps, an easier to read black hue. Theres also a new keyboard that lets you type by swiping across the letters and big updates to the Maps app.

The biggest reason to upgrade from the iPhone XR to the iPhone 11 is the camera and we dont think youll regret it if you make the move.

Should You Upgrade From The iPhone Xr To The iPhone 11
If you’re currently holding the iPhone XR in your hand and are considering upgrading to the iPhone 11, my first question is, Are you on the iPhone Upgrade Program? If so, upgrade this year. The price of the iPhone 11 is incredible considering it has the same camera features as the iPhone XS and the exact same TrueDepth camera as the iPhone 11 Pro . This is a marked improvement over the iPhone XR and well worth the upgrade for less than last year’s model.
If, however, you bought your iPhone XR outright, don’t feel compelled to upgrade just because of the camera and the price. Next year’s iPhone 12 will be better than the iPhone 11 and you can feel good about your choice for the iPhone XR, knowing that it was Apple’s most popular iPhone last year.
Design: Modern Vs Classic
You dont need to be a rocket scientist to see the difference between these three phones. The iPhone SE has a home button and the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 do not. But of course, the design differences are deeper than that.
The iPhone SE uses Apples old bezel-heavy design while the XR and 11 embrace the newer notch.
The iPhone SE adheres to the iPhone design Apple introduced with the iPhone 6: it has a huge bezel and a lot of dead space around the screen. Despite that, however, its a good deal smaller than the iPhone XR and 11.
- iPhone SE: 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3mm
- iPhone XR: 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm
- iPhone 11: 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm
Mentioned in this article
As you can plainly see, the iPhone XR and 11 are identical in size and shape. Theyre not big phones by any stretch, but the iPhone SE feels incredibly small by comparison, even with gargantuan bezels. Its also noticeably lighter, at 148 grams versus 194 grams for the iPhone 11 and XR.
Around the back, theyre very similar too, with a camera in the left corner, a centered Apple logo, and a glass body. And theres no shortage of color options with these phones either:
- iPhone SE: Black, white, red
- iPhone XR: Black, white, red, blue, yellow, coral
- iPhone 11: Black, white, red, green, yellow, purple

While the Max iPhone is the biggest, for many people its too big. Thats why the iPhone 11 Pro is generally the more popular of the two phones. Given that the iPhone 11 Pro is also more similar in size to the iPhone XR, a lot of people wonder how the two compare.

iPhone Xr Vs iPhone 11 Specs And Features
The iPhone XR uses the A12 Bionic chip found in the iPhone XS, while the iPhone 11’s A13 Bionic is currently the fastest mobile chip the company makes.
Benchmarks show a 20 percent increase in performance, but it’s also worth remembering that the A13 is more power efficient, helping eke out all of the power it can from a single charge.;
Aside from the processor, many of the specs are similar on both devices, with Face ID being the only way of unlocking the phone, NFC technology for using Apple Pay, and the usual suspects; of Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and Siri.;
Interestingly, iPhone XR doesn’t offer Wi-Fi 6 like the iPhone 11 does, meaning your connections could be slightly slower with the XR, although you’re unlikely to notice it.;
The iPhone 11 also offers Dolby Atmos support for watching content that supports it, while the iPhone XR is restricted to stereo sound.
iPhone Se Vs iPhone Xr: Security And Unlocking
In this round its all about Touch ID vs Face ID. The iPhone SE has a Touch ID sensor for unlocking the phone, authorizing App Store downloads, using Apple Pay and entering passwords. And the iPhone XR uses Face ID for all of those tasks.
In general, Face ID is more secure than Touch ID because it uses a 3D model of your face. Its also fairly convenient, and you dont have to worry about which fingers you have registered to your device. It just works, even in the dark.;
There are some benefits of Touch ID, however. You can power on and unlock your device with a single tap, and Touch ID works even if youre wearing a mask, which many people are now doing. But overall Face ID is a little more convenient and secure.
