Control When You’ll See Siri

First Look: Apple Watch Companion App for iOS 8.2

There are three different ways to activate Siri on your Apple Watch. You can raise your wrist toward your mouth and start talking, long-press the Digital Crown or use the wake phrase, “Hey, Siri.”

I’ve found that I often accidentally trigger Siri when trying to check the time or read a notification while I’m talking to someone else . It’s annoying, but it can be changed.

Either in the Watch app on your phone or in the Settings app on the Watch, select Siri and there you’ll find three buttons to control when you’ll see Siri. Slide each button to the Off position for any of the options you don’t want to use.

This is a hidden feature that you should memorize right now.

You Choose What Data To Share And With Whom

You choose what data to share. And with whom.

Each app is required to ask for your permission so you can choose what data to share. The first time a thirdparty app wants to access your information like your location, contacts, calendars or photos you receive an alert. Even if you grant access once, you can revoke it later. We also ensure that apps are denied access to certain sensitive data on your device, are unable to modify your device or OS, and are prohibited from obtaining complete access to your data.

Hole19 Golf Gps & Scoring

Hole19 claims to be the most-used golf GPS range finder in the UK, with more than 10 million rounds registered, and it claims to be as accurate as a real caddie although it doesnt specify which one.

As is usually the case with sports apps the bulk of the work is done by the iPhone app, with the Apple Watch companion providing just the essential features and information you need while youre on the green.

The main app offers two key tools: GPS range finding so you can see how far you are from your goal as well as any hazards, and a digital scorecard that you can use to track your stats over time.

On your watch, it shows you the distance to the front, center and back of the green swipe and theres an input screen where you can track your performance. Its all very simple and straightforward, enabling you to track your playing without distracting you for too long.

The usefulness of the app depends mainly on whether it knows about the course you want to play. Hole19 knows over 42,000 courses in 201 countries, so yours should be covered, but the apps free to try so you can make sure its right for you before signing up for a subscription.

How To Install Apps From The Watch App

Even though Apple introduced the App Store on the Watch, users still have the old way for installing apps to your Watch. This is done from the Watch app, and shows you all the available apps that are already installed on your iPhone that also have a Watch app.

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Tap the My Watch tab at the bottom.
  • Scroll down to the Available Apps section.
  • Find the app you want to install.
  • Tap Install on the right-hand side.
  • Its important that your Watch and iPhone are nearby throughout the installation process. This will ensure that the app installs as quickly as possible, as your iPhone is transferring the app to your Watch directly, where applicable.

After the app is installed, it can be found under the Installed on Apple Watch section in the Watch app. This section also acts as the place where you can uninstall apps from your Apple Watch.

    Premium Has A Serious Glitch

The big advantage of the premium cardiogram app subscription is the ability of the app to alert you to elevated heart rate and low heart rates that could be indicative of a heart problem. You adjust the settings for high and low bpm. The default high heart rate setting is 129 beats per minute. The problem I have encountered numerous times since I started my subscription is that I get high heart rate notifications from cardiogram while I am working out in cardio sessions. These alerts come even though I have opened and am using my exercise app on Apple Watch 4 which syncs to cardiogram. Cardiogram app recognizes that I am in a workout as when I finish my workout by selecting end workout I get a nice workout display on the cardiogram app. I shouldnt be receiving high heart rate alerts during a workout as I am trying to reach my target heart rate which is almost 150 bpm. Cardiogram premium should have different high heart rate alert settings: one for during workouts which for me might be 160 bpm and another for when I am not exercising which would be a lot lower. I agree I can change the settings before and after each exercise period but who will remember to do this and for the price of this app this should have been thought through. Also at first I believed the premium app said they would respond to comments submitted thru the app in 24 hours. Now it says 4 business days. I sent an inquiry almost a week ago and have not had a response.

Track Your Sleep With Apple Watch

With the Sleep app on Apple Watch, you can create bedtime schedules to help you meet your sleep goals. Wear your watch to bed, and Apple Watch can track your sleep. When you wake up, open the Sleep app to learn how much sleep you got and see your sleep trends over the past 14 days.

If your Apple Watch is charged less than 30 percent before you go to bed, youre prompted to charge it. In the morning, just glance at the greeting to see how much charge remains.

You can create multiple schedulesfor example, one for weekdays and another for weekends. For each schedule, you can set up the following:

    • A sleep goal

    • What time you want to go to bed and wake up

    • An alarm sound to wake you up

    • When to turn on sleep mode, which limits distractions before you go to bed and protects your sleep after youre in bed

    • Sleep tracking, which uses your motion to detect sleep when Apple Watch is in sleep mode and worn to bed

Tip: To exit sleep mode, first turn the Digital Crown to unlock. Then swipe up to open Control Center and tap .

How To Add Individual Apps To Apple Watch Through Your iPhone

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone
  • Under the My Watch tab, tap on General
  • Tap Automatic App Install to Off
  • Thereafter, you must positively choose which apps you want to have available to you on your Apple Watch.

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone
  • Under the My Watch tab, scroll far down
  • Check under Available Apps for one you want
  • Tap the Install button next to its name
  • Once you’ve done that, the app is installed on your Apple Watch. It also moves out of the Available Apps section and into the list above it, labelled Installed on Apple Watch.

Confusingly, that list of installed apps works in a slightly different way. Rather than having an Uninstall button as you might expect, installed apps require you to tap on their name to go into an edit screen.

That screen includes only one single button and it isn’t Uninstall. Instead, it’s Show App on Apple Watch and you have an on/off toggle.

This feels like an overhang from the original days of the watchOS, when your iPhone app would show a display on the Apple Watch. Nonetheless, if you turn it to off, the app is uninstalled.

Currently, this is the only way to uninstall an Apple Watch app you can’t do it on the Watch itself. You also can’t rearrange apps on the Watch. That’s something else you need to do on your iPhone.
