iPhone 12/12 Pro: How to Find IMEI Number

To use this method you need to be able to use the iPhone so if the device is packaged this method will not work. The method below will work with all the iPhone models running on any iOS, in addition to the Android devices.

  • Tap Your iPhone CalliCon app
  • Just Dial *#06# on your keypad
  • Pop up screen will appear with Your IMEI Number
  • Find Your Imei By Dialling A Code

You can retrieve the iPhones IMEI number by dialling the code *#06# into the Phone app. Follow these steps:

  • Open Phone app.
  • Tap Keypad.
  • As shown on the picture above, enter *#06# you dont need to hit the green call button itll just register automatically.
  • The IMEI code will then appear on the screen.

Dialling a code is the most commonly described method of finding the IMEI number, but we dont think its the best because you cant copy the number. Instead of being able to copy and paste the code you have to write it down and its long enough, at 15 digits, for this to be annoying.

Use Your Apple Id To Find Your iPhone Serial Number

This method won’t work if you have two-factor authentication set up for your Apple ID account, the reason being that a code is sent to your iPhone to verify that it’s ok to log in with your Apple ID from another device. If you don’t have access to your iPhone, you can’t retrieve this code! If you have access to another device, but don’t have your phone, just sign in to your Apple ID to find your iPhone’s serial number.

Log in with your Apple ID with this link.

How To Find Imei Number On iPhone Without Phone

When we first published this article, Kirk McElhearn, an iTunes expert who writes for Macworld in the US, responded by pointing out a final scenario that we missed: what about if you havent got the iPhone any more, and therefore cant look at the back, cant dial the code and so on? After all, one of the principal situations in which an IMEI is needed is when youre reporting the theft of the device.

Fortunately, as Kirk points out, its still easy to find the IMEI number of an absent iPhone, provided youve backed it up in iTunes. All you need to do is open iTunes and go to Preferences, then select the Devices tab .

Youll see a list of device backups. Hold your cursor over one of the backups that relate to the iPhone thats lost, and youll see various details including IMEI.

Our thanks to Kirk for pointing this out. For a longer description of the method, as well as lots more Mac-related writing, visit Kirks website.
