Why Did The Person I Sent A Message To Get Duplicate Messages
The best way to start troubleshooting issues of duplicate message delivery is review your Message logs. Each message that Twilio sends out is matched to a record in your logs, identified by a 34-character string starting with “SM” for SMS or “MM” for MMS . Check to see whether the 2 messages that the user received came from just 1 message record in your Twilio project, or if there are 2 or more message records.
If you have a lot of messages in your project, you can view the Twilio SMS Logs with our API Explorer:
- Enter the phone number which the messages were sent to and press “Make Request”.
- An XML or JSON file listing the messages sent to that number will appear.
You are going to be looking for a record for message in question, as well as other messages which are duplicates and which were sent within a few seconds of each other.

Why Do Text Messages Duplicate?
Cell phones are important communication tools nowadays. These are not just used for calling but also for texting. When we send messages to somebody, there are some instances that our text messages duplicate even if we only sent them once.
There are even text recipients who receive messages more than twice. Sometimes the messages already crowd the inbox. This becomes very annoying to the recipient. The worse part can be experienced by the sender because they thought all the while that they only sent the message once and they are billed also once. With duplicate messages, there is a tendency that their cell phone loads will be easily consumed because of the duplication of messages.
The duplication of text messages is brought about by deficiencies in the mobile service. There are communication lines which are affected by typhoons or signal disturbance. Other mobile networks may encounter problems in their system. Sometimes, duplication occurs because when you first send the message, it will not automatically be sent to the receiver. Instead, the message will pass by the mobile networks center and store the message there. When you thought that the message was not sent, you will again press the send button and thats the time that the message will be delivered to the recipient together with the text being stored in the network center.

Sending Duplicate Text Messages
My new Boost sim sends duplicate text messages every time I text outside of iMessage. It does this no matter what network the reciever is on. I have tried a hard rest of my phone, restartitng and resetting the network settings. Specifically it sends 4 x each message.
I have been trying to contact Boost daily since 1/11 to no avail. The support chats take so long tto get a repsonse that they time out. Why Do I Have Two Separate Conversations With The Same Person In Messages
Q: Ive been using Messages to text with my fiance almost since it first came out, and its always worked fine, but recently I noticed that I have two separate threads in Messages with his name on both of them, and different parts of our conversions in each. I can send him messages in either one and hell get them, and he only has one messages thread on his iPhone, but messages from him seem to randomly go into one or the other. Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it? Is there some way I can combine these two conversations into one?
A: The most common cause of this is that the other person has started sending you iMessages from a different address. iMessage users can receive messages at more than one address. Its not uncommon for iPhone users to have at least two iMessage addresses usually the users phone number and the email address associated with their Apple ID and its even possible to use multiple email addresses. While iMessages can be received at any of the associated addresses, one address is chosen by default to send iMessages. You can see the addresses that have been associated with your Apple ID and which ones are being used for iMessage by going into your Settings app and choosing Messages, Send & Receive.
