The Apple iPhone 13 is an interesting device since it has the exact same 6.1-inch display seen on the iPhone 13 Pro, but without the new ProMotion technology. This means its limited to the standard 60 Hz iPhone owners have been using for year. Truth be told, this is unlikely to be a dealbreaker for the large portion of the populace that see things like refresh rate as useless technobabble or just an unwanted source for an upcharge.
There is also one less rear camera on the iPhone 13 and it does not offer the LiDAR scanner found in the 13 Pro line. If the extra telephoto lens and AR capabilities are not important to you, then you can save some considerable money by opting for the iPhone 13.

It’s great to finally see Apple start with a 128GB base model rather than charging people for a reasonable level of internal storage, especially when that storage needs to play home to Apple’s excellent photo and video results, including film taken using the new Cinematic mode mentioned above.
The iPhone 13 is 0.25mm thicker and 10 grams heavier than the iPhone 12, but users are sure to appreciate the improved battery life that comes with a bit more depth.

iPhone Xs And Xs Max Improvements And Upgrades
Although Apple put quite a bit of work into making the XS and XS Max seem significantly different than the iPhone X, in reality, the phones are very similar. The X and the XS are almost identical in size, except the XS weighs .01 ounces less. The XS Max, by design, is larger. It has a 6.5 inch/16.5cm screen as compared to 5.8 inches/14.7, and it weighs about an ounce more than the iPhone XS.
Both phones got an upgraded camera, largely with improved HDR and image stabilization technology, and although the front-facing camera remained the same, Apple updated the technology to make sure Face ID works more quickly.
Probably the most significant upgrade is in the processor. Apple improved upon its A11 processor and put an A12 processor with six cores in the iPhone XS and XS Max. It has 4GB of RAM and is capable of speeds up to 2.49 GHz, and it comes preloaded with iOS 12
Both the XS and XS Max are available in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB models, and prices range from $999-$1349. Lastly, battery life was slightly improved. With the XS and XS Max, you get:

Best Compact For The Middle Ground: iPhone 13
If the iPhone 13 mini is just a tad too small for you, but you don’t need the features of the iPhone 13 Pro, then the regular iPhone 13 could be what you need.
With the iPhone 13, you pretty much have everything the iPhone 13 mini has, but the display is 6.1-inches instead of 5.4-inches. You’ll still have the A15 Bionic, 5G cellular data, Wide and Ultra-Wide cameras, sensor-shift optical image stabilization, Cinematic mode video recording, improved low-light sensors in the cameras, up to 512GB storage, MagSafe, and more.
The 6.1-inch display is the same as the iPhone 13 Pro, minus the ProMotion, but if you don’t need the Telephoto lens, ProRAW, ProRes, Macro mode photography, or up to 1TB of storage, then it’s a good choice. Plus, you can save some money, too, as the iPhone 13 is just $100 more than the mini but $200 less than the Pro.
Best Compact Value: iPhone Se
If you’re looking for the best compact iPhone but still want the most bang out with your buck review), then you can’t go wrong with the second generation iPhone SE. In fact, before the iPhone 13 mini launched, we considered the iPhone SE as the best overall compact phone.
With the iPhone SE, you get a 4.7-inch Retina HD display. However, while the display is theoretically smaller than the iPhone 13 mini, that’s only because there are still bezels around it, so you’re missing out on the edge-to-edge display. The one-up that the SE has over the mini is Touch ID since there is still a Home button. If you don’t want to use Face ID, the iPhone SE and its Home button for Touch ID are fantastic.
The iPhone SE also packs in an A13 Bionic chip, so it’s still pretty fast and snappy. You get up to 13 hours of battery life, and it starts with 64GB of storage and goes up to 256GB. You only get a single 12MP Wide camera, though, so you won’t be able to take cool Ultra Wide photos, but it still has Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting and 4K video recording up to 60fps.
However, if you want the value of an iPhone SE but want faster 5G connectivity, then you may want to hold off for a little bit longer. According to recent reports, it is speculated that Apple will be launching a third-generation iPhone SE with 5G in the first quarter of 2022. Of course, take that with a grain of salt, as nothing has been confirmed just yet.
