Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it contracts that no one actually reads. Its impossible for us to read and analyze every single one of these agreements. But were going to start counting exactly how many times you have to hit agree to use devices when we review them since these are agreements most people dont read and definitely cant negotiate. Were starting with the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, which will serve as our baseline.
To use an iPhone, you have to agree to:
- The Apple terms of service agreement, which you can have sent to you by email
- Apples warranty agreement, which you can have sent to you by email
These agreements are not negotiable, and you cannot use the phone at all if you dont agree to them.
The iPhone also prompts you to set up Apple Cash and Apple Pay at setup, which further means you have to agree to:
- The Apple Cash agreement, which specifies that services are actually provided by Green Dot Bank and Apple Payments, Inc, and further consists of the following agreements:
- The Apple Cash terms and conditions
- The electronic communications agreement
- Apple Payments, Inc, license
If you add a credit card to Apple Pay, you have to agree to:
- The terms from your credit card provider, which do not have an option to be emailed

Apple didnt deviate too much from the formula it presented in the iPhone XS and XR. That means in terms of body size the entry-level iPhone 11 is sandwiched between the new Pros, despite costing significantly less. Heres how the three phones measure up:

Despite the differences in size, the three phones all share the same aesthetics, with a notched display and an all-glass back with a new square camera array. The 11 Pros, however, features stainless steel sides while the iPhone 11 has aluminum sides. The cheaper iPhone 11 also has slightly thicker bezels, but all in all, theyre very similar in appearancethe iPhone 11 even has the same square camera bump as the Pro, despite only having two lenses.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max carries a lot of the same design language that was first introduced with the iPhone X back in 2017 glass on the front and back, with metal on the sides. This also means that love it or hate it, the notch is still there. One major change, however, is the frosted glass on the rear panel. For our smartphone battery life test, we set all phone screens to 150 nits of screen brightness and then continuously surf the web over 4G LTE, typically using T-Mobile’s network for consistency. The test automatically loads a new website every 30 seconds until the battery drains.
The iPhone 11 Pro Max was the clear winner in our testing, averaging a runtime of 11 hours and 54 minutes. This enabled the 11 Pro Max to be named to our best phone battery life list. By comparison, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus lasted an average of 11:09.
Not surprisingly, the iPhone 11 Pro Max also has the biggest battery of any iPhone yet at a reported 3,968 mAh, according to one teardown.
Moving on to the next highest battery life score, the iPhone 11 averaged a very good 11:16 on the Tom’s Guide battery test. The iPhone 11 Pro lasted only an average of 10:24.
If you believe the iPhone 11 teardowns, the regular iPhone 11 has a smaller battery than the iPhone 11 Pro at 3046 mAh vs 3190 mAh, but perhaps the iPhone 11’s LCD screen proved more efficient on than the iPhone 11 Pro’s OLED panel on our web surfing test.

On paper, there’s little to separate the iPhone 11 from the Pro models, as all three are powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic processor. And since the A12 Bionic from 2018’s phones already outperformed some Android flagships that came after, you’d be correct that the gap widens further with the A13, though the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 865 Plus powering 2020’s top Android phones pulled some models closer to the iPhone 11.
When introducing the iPhone 11 Pro, Apple told us to expect 20% performance improvements from the CPU, GPU and neural processor contained within the A13. And the newer chip is more energy efficient, too, with Apple touting a 40% improvement in power consumption just for the A13’s GPU.
In terms of benchmark results, the iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro turned in comparable results on Geekbench 5, which measures overall performance The iPhone 11 was slightly behind with a multicore score of 3,251 a surprising difference given that all three iPhone 11 models have the same 4GB of RAM according to phone teardowns. Suffice it to say, even the iPhone 11 beat out the Geekbench 5 score of the Galaxy S20 the OnePlus 8 Pro topped the iPhone 11 with a multicore score of 3,379, though the iPhone 11’s single-core result still tops the latest OnePlus phone.

When Apple designed the new iPhone 13 camera app, it hoped to improve on past handsets by learning from oil painting techniques but did it really make things better?

Last years iPhones had great sound thanks to a new stereo speaker system, but Apple has taken audio ever further with the iPhone 11. All models feature spatial audio, a 3D sound model made possible by a new sound visualizer.
