Now were getting somewhere. The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to have a front-facing camera. Little did Apple know, selfies would take over the world. The iPhone 4 also got a Retina display. With 512 MB memory, it was equipped to handle a lot more than even the iPhone 3GS, which only had 256 MB of memory. You can see the technology was beginning to look a little more familiar, but 32 GB was still the maximum amount of storage the iPhone could hold.
Removal Of The Power Adapter And Earpods
Apple, through an “environmental initiative”, has removed the EarPods and power adapter from all new iPhone boxes, including the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. It is claimed that removing these items will reduce e-waste and permit a smaller iPhone box, allowing more devices to be transported simultaneously to decrease carbon footprint. Apple now includes a USB-C to Lightning cable, incompatible with the existing USB-A power adapters that Apple previously supplied with its devices. Users can still use their existing USB-A power adapters and cables, but must purchase a USB-C power adapter sold separately to enable Qi fast charging.
They Will Probably Be Around The Same Price As Last Year’s iPhone 11 Pro And iPhone 11 Pro Max
The introduction of 5G doesn’t necessarily mean we should expect a price increase in the next iPhone. Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives said he expects Apple to keep the pricing for its iPhone 12 Pro models the same as that of last year’s iPhones. That’s particularly noteworthy considering early 5G phone models, especially premium devices, are usually more expensive than non-5G variants.
“Price points will be aggressive as Apple goes after their broader customer base,” Ives said in a previous interview with Business Insider. “Especially in a recession, in a COVID-19 backdrop, they need to make sure they’re hitting all price categories.”

These arguments were more compelling before Apple scheduled a Sept. 14 product event where it’s likely to announce new iPhones. Even then, you’d figure that it will keep at least one iPhone 12 model around at a lower price. So consider these arguments for adopting Apple’s older phone, whether it’s now or after the iPhone 13 shows up.
Same sizes: From what we’ve heard, the iPhone 13 will be available in the same sizes as the iPhone 12. That would include a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini , a 6.1-inch standard iPhone 13, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro with a few extra features, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max at the top of the range.
What size works best for you depends on your exact needs as well as what will fit best in your hand, pocket or bag, but it’s not a reason to pick the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 over the other.

Buying a new iPhone this year isnt complicated because there are so many iPhones to choose from I am not even counting the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR here which are still excellent value for money by the way, also theres the pocket-rocket iPhone SE but because how similar they are on so many levels. Yes, the iPhone 12 Mini is the gateway and the iPhone 12 Pro Max exudes the very latest and greatest that Apple can offer today, but you probably already knew that. The real question is, what is it that you will be losing out on, should you buy the iPhone 12 Mini, or what is it that youre getting extra, when you pick the iPhone 12 Pro Max the short answer is, not a whole lot.

While Apple has launched its new iPhone lineups annually in September for many years now, the timing is a little different in 2020 thanks to development and production delays due to the global health crisis.
Apple did hold a September event in 2020, but it involved Apple Watch and iPad announcements rather than addressing the iPhone. With Apple now ready to introduce the iPhone 12, the company has scheduled a media event for Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

It’ll Also Reportedly Have A Triple
Apple will continue to outfit its high-end smartphones with a triple-lens camera, according to reports from Bloomberg and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
That would indicate that Apple is taking a similar strategy in 2020 as it did with last year’s iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, which come with a triple lens camera that includes wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto lenses.
The cheaper models are expected to come with only two cameras, much like the iPhone 11.

Truedepth Camera And Face Id
For biometric authentication purposes, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max use Face ID, the facial recognition system that was first introduced in 2017. Face ID components are housed in the TrueDepth camera system in the display notch.
Face ID is used across iOS tasks for unlocking the iPhone, allowing access to third-party passcode-protected apps, confirming app purchases, and authenticating Apple Pay payments.
Face ID works through a set of sensors and cameras. A Dot Projector projects more than 30,000 invisible infrared dots onto the surface of the skin to create a 3D facial scan that maps the curves and planes of each face, with the scan read by an infrared camera.
The facial depth map is relayed to the A14 chip where it is transformed into a mathematical model that the iPhone uses to authenticate identity. Face ID works in low light and in the dark, and with hats, beards, glasses, sunglasses, scarves, and other accessories that partially obscure the face.
Face ID data is stored in the Secure Enclave, and it is not accessible to Apple, third-party apps, or anyone who has your phone. Authentication happens on-device and no Face ID data is uploaded to Apple.

iPhone 12 Pro Max Display
Apart from the cameras, the rest of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is very similar to the iPhone 12 Pro. The display is obviously bigger, but its just as bright and colorful, and the pixel density is essentially the same. And theres not a ton more information presented on the big screen by default. I think thats a shame this thing is veering into tablet territory in terms of size, and Id like to see Apple allow app developers to make better use of all this real estate.
Every other flagship phone this year has a 120Hz display, its odd for the top of the line iPhone to not have it
Disappointingly, the iPhone 12 Pro Max still has a 60Hz-refresh-rate display, while virtually every Android phone above $600 is now at 120Hz. This was maybe passable on the standard 12, but on the 12 Pro and especially the Pro Max, I think its a miss its the most expensive iPhone with the biggest battery, and the display shouldnt be one tick behind the competition. Maybe next year.
The 12 Pro Max adds the same MagSafe magnetic wireless charging system as the other iPhone 12s, but Apples charging adapters are expensive and suffer from the usual USB-C spec confusion. I am eagerly anticipating the first wave of MagSafe car mounts and other accessories MagSafe has all the potential to be terrific, but Apples ability to build and nurture accessory ecosystems around its connector ideas is iffy at best.

Did you know that there isn’t an iPhone 2? After Apple created the first generation iPhone, the one that came after that was all about 3G internet connectivity, so the iPhone 2 was skipped. Smaller notch: The iPhone 13 display is said to be benefitting from a smaller Face ID notch, the first time Apple’s shrunk it since introducing it. That’ll give the iPhone 13 a more immersive viewing experience, as the notch can be distracting.
Touch ID in display: Apple will reportedly reintroduce Touch ID to the iPhone 13, either beneath the display or on the side button. It should prove useful for unlocking your phone quickly if your face is covered. However, recent reports also suggest that Apple is foregoing Touch ID for the iPhone 13, so take this with a grain of salt.
120Hz refresh rate : The iPhone 13’s display is also said to be getting a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, at least for the Pro models. which will make compatible games and just scrolling feel beautifully smooth.
Always-on display: It’s long overdue, but the iPhone 13 is expected to get an always-on display mode, something the iPhone 12 isn’t capable of. This should make it easy to look at the time or other key info at a glance.
Camera improvements: Keen photographers will be able to benefit from the iPhone 13’s improved rear ultrawide camera lens, as well as some new astrophotography and video portrait modes. Battery Life And Camera
Battery life has been nothing short of phenomenal, but based on my previous experience using the biggest iPhone in each release cycle, that’s to be expected. Over the past week, my daily use has ran from 6 a.m. to after 10 p.m., using the 12 Pro Max throughout the day for common tasks like texting or checking, as well as streaming video, listening to music or taking pictures. On two occasions, the battery fell below 50% at the end of the day, with an average of around five hours of screen time use. And in both of those instances, it stayed above 40%.
It’d be a stretch, but only a small one, for me to get two full days of battery out of the 12 Pro Max. For someone who is constantly traveling, or lives on their phone, the Pro Max’s battery is going to be a huge benefit. That is, if you can get over the size of the phone itself.
On paper, the 12 Pro Max has the best camera out of the entire iPhone 12 lineup. The 12 Pro is close, but Apple added some features to the 12 Pro Max that are a boost to its overall capabilities. There are still three 12-megapixel cameras, wide, ultra-wide and telephoto, but there are subtle differences. For example, the telephoto lens has an f/2.2 aperture, compared to the Pro’s f/2.0. The Pro Max has a 2.5x optical zoom, giving a total 5x optical zoom range , compared to 4x on the Pro. That also translates into a 12x photo digital zoom, or 6x video digital zoom, versus 10x and 5x on the Pro, respectively.

The iPhone 12 Pro boasts some very fancy camera and color upgrades as compared to the 12 and the 12 mini, but comes in the same 6.1-inch screen size as the iPhone 12 and includes all of the baseline features present in the budget models. New camera features introduced in 2020 include a triple-lens arrangement like we saw with the iPhone 11 Pro models, but with LiDAR scanning, improved Night Mode, and enhanced zoom range and lens functions. Both iPhone 12 Pro models include the fastest aperture ever used in an iPhone. Apple has added RAW photos for superior pro editing capability, and has included Dolby Vision up to 60 frames per second in the Pro models.
