Apple makes quite a few iPhones nowadays and theyre all slightly different both with respect to specs and size. Heres a handy iPhone size comparison chart to give you a visual idea of the differences

iPhone Se Plus Battery Life And Charging

The iPhone SE’s battery life did not impress in our testing, as its small 1,821 mAh battery lasted only 9 hours and 18 minutes on our web surfing test. This is well behind the 11-hour mark, which is what you need to make our best phone battery life list.

As for charging, I’m really hoping Apple ditches Lightning for USB-C by the time the iPhone SE Plus rolls around but I wouldn’t bet on it. More importantly, we would not expect a charger in the box, as Apple has started that trend with the iPhone 12.

Like the iPhone SE, the iPhone SE Plus would presumably support Qi wireless charging so it should work with any of the best wireless chargers out there. We would not expect MagSafe support, but you never know.

iPhone Se Vs iPhone 1: Processor And Specs

The iPhone SE has a better processor, hands-down. The A15 is extremely fastfaster than youll need for almost anything. The A13 found in the iPhone 11 is still very goodas good, in fact, as the processor found in most premium Android phones. Elsewhere, both phones have 4GB of RAM, a Lightning port for charging, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.0.

For a budget phone, youre not likely to notice any real difference between them in day-to-day use. But in three or four years, you might find that the A15 is still supported by the latest iOS updates while the A13 is not.

Curved Edge: Syncwire Screen Protector For iPhone Se 2020

Apple debuts 2020 iPhone SE with 4.7

Get three tempered glass, bubble-free, anti-fingerprint, oleophobic, hydrophobic screen protectors in this package. It does not go all the way to the edge of the screen, leaving plenty of room for any kind of case you might use. The edge of the screen protector is also curved for a more comfortable user experience.

iPhone 7 Plus& 8 Plus

These model iPhones are the larger iPhone models Apple offers. Both models have a 5.5″ screen .

These two models are different than the iPhone 6 PLUS/6s PLUS model Apple offers due to no longer having a headphone jack and a different camera design. If you currently have an iPhone 6 PLUS or 6s PLUS Loopy, you’ll want to upgrade to the iPhone 7 PLUS & 8 PLUS Loopy to have the right fit for to these upgraded features 🙂

Do You Really Need A Screen Protector

I learned a couple of things about screen protectors during the time I worked at an Apple Store. First of all, you definitely do need one. A screen protector may not be 100% effective in keeping your actual iPhone screen from breaking in a fall, but I saw plenty of customers come in to replace cracked screen protectors while their iPhone screens remained perfect. Even if you never subject your iPhone to any kind of trauma, the phone screen will develop micro-scratches over time from normal use. I found that out the hard way when I went without a screen protector for a couple of months. A screen protector will take all of that damage instead of your phone screen.

Second, I do not trust myself to install a screen protector free hand. At Apple, we had “machines” to help us install screen protectors perfectly every time. The Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector comes with an installation kit that most closely replicates what we used at Apple. Simple frames are helpful for guiding applications too, and sticker hinges are better than nothing, but I really like using the Spigen one.

Portrait Mode And Portrait Lighting

While there aren’t two cameras, the iPhone SE does support Portrait Mode, Portrait Lighting, and Depth Control using the image signal processor and the Neural Engine for computational photography. The iPhone SE is the first iPhone that uses a purely software solution to enable Portrait Mode.

Portrait Mode allows for artful blurring of the background in an image when taking a portrait photo of a person, pet, or object, while Portrait Lighting allows six studio-quality lighting effects to be added to images. Depth Control allows the amount of blur in an image captured in Portrait Mode to be tuned for the best possible blend of blurring and detail.

iPhone Se Plus Cameras

iPhone SE 2022 Release Date and Price Screen Size Confirmed!

The iPhone SE makes due with a single rear 12MP camera and a 7MP selfie camera up front, but it leverages the computational photography features of the A13 Bionic chip so well that it’s one of the best camera phones for the money. You get Portrait Mode, Smart HDR and extended dynamic range in 4K video.

The iPhone SE Plus could be even more versatile. JP Morgan Chase predicts that Apple will opt for the same camera setup as the iPhone 11. This would give the phone a main lens and ultrawide lens.

What I would also expect from an iPhone SE Plus is Night Mode. It’s one of the biggest missing features from the current iPhone SE.

The iPhone Se’s Pros And Cons

The new iPhone SE

The iPhone SE would be the right choice for those who want the least expensive iPhone and prefer smaller devices. Other than its low price, the iPhone SE’s biggest attributes are its support for 5G and the inclusion of Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. That’s the same chip found inside the iPhone 13, meaning the iPhone SE has some of Apple’s more modern internal camera upgrades.

For example, the iPhone SE has the latest version of Apple’s high dynamic range processing for photos, known as Smart HDR 4. The company says this technology applies different optimizations around noise, color and contrast for the subject compared to the background of an image, which should make the subject stand out.

The iPhone SE also has a feature called Photographic Styles that debuted on the iPhone 13. It lets users apply preset color and contrast profiles to the camera app that kicks in each time you take a photo and can be customized. Apple’s pixel-by-pixel photo processing technology, which should result in crisper detail and texture, also works on the selfie camera in addition to the main camera. Apple calls this feature Deep Fusion.

But the iPhone 11 does have other extras that photographers might appreciate compared to the iPhone SE. The biggest of them is a dual-lens camera that includes a standard lens and an ultrawide lens, meaning you can capture scenes with a much broader field of view than the iPhone SE.

iPhone Se 2020 Vs iPhone : Price

The iPhone SE starts at $399 for a 64GB version. Double the storage to 128GB and you’ll pay $449. The 256GB model costs $549. Even with new iPhone models out, Apple has held the price on the iPhone SE only the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 have seen price cuts.

Because the iPhone SE has been out the better part of a year, we’re now seeing discounts, mostly in the form of rebates if you trade in a device when buying the iPhone SE from a carrier. We’re tracking the best iPhone SE deals around.

The iPhone SE costs less than what Apple charged for the iPhone 7 when that phone debuted at in 2016. Back then, the iPhone 7 started at $649, though obviously the price has fallen as newer models have come out. These days, you can find an iPhone 7 for around $200 at discount carriers and retail sites, though in many cases, you’ll be picking up a refurbished model.

Theres one thing about the iPhone SE’s price that’s especially relevant to iPhone 7 users: Apple is offering a discount on its new phone when you trade in older models. iPhone 7 owners can knock off as much as $90 from the price of their iPhone SE, while the iPhone 7 Plus fetches up to $130 in rebates.

But There Are Two Minor Differences Between The iPhone Se And iPhone 7 When It Comes To Their Screens

iPhone SE Screen sizes and interfaces compared!

The iPhone SE has Apple’s True Tone technology, which enables the screen color temperature to adapt to the light in your surroundings. This makes the display look warmer and strips away that blue-ish hue common on electronics’ screens.

The iPhone 7’s display lacks this feature.

The iPhone SE‘s display also supports Haptic Touch while the iPhone 7 has 3D Touch. They’re essentially two different technologies that offer similar functionality. Haptic Touch is the feature that lets you launch certain app shortcuts, like pressing and holding an app icon on the home screen to quickly launch a certain action within that app.

3D Touch is the older iteration of that feature that requires you to apply a little bit of extra pressure to launch that sub-menu.

iPhone Se 2022 Vs iPhone 1: Deciding Between Apple’s Cheapest Phones

The iPhone SE has a newer processor and 5G, but the iPhone 11 has a bigger screen and a more versatile camera.

At $429, Apple’s 2022 iPhone SE is a tempting purchase for budget-minded shoppers. But so is the $499 iPhone 11, which is similarly priced and offers some advantages like a bigger screen and dual camera.

If you’re trying to decide between the two, consider which factors matter to you the most. The new iPhone SE supports 5G networks, which may not be critical right now but could be in the years to come. It also runs on Apple’s newest mobile processor. But the iPhone 11 has a significantly larger screen and a secondary ultrawide camera lens for taking broader photos.

We’ll have more thoughts on the new iPhone SE once we’ve had a chance to test it. But here are the biggest considerations to take into account based on what we know about the phone so far.

Where Else The iPhone 11 Wins

The $499 iPhone 11 comes with a better, 12MP front-facing camera. The iPhone SE’s front camera is a lower quality 7MP FaceTime HD one.

This does make a difference, and you can see it in use, but it isn’t substantially different enough that the iPhone SE is out of the running. Whereas there are differences in the rear cameras which can be significant.

Where the iPhone 11 has dual 12MP Wide and Ultra Wide rear cameras, the iPhone SE has only a single Wide one. Plus the SE offers solely 5x digital zoom, whereas the iPhone 11 also offers 2x optical zoom.

The iPhone 11 has longer battery life, although again it perhaps isn’t substantial. Apple says the iPhone 11 will play back video for up to 17 hours, where the iPhone SE will do the same but only up to 15 hours.

There is also the fact that the iPhone 11 comes in six different colors, compared to just three for the iPhone SE.

iPhone Se Plus Size And Design

Here’s where it gets tricky. While some reports point to the iPhone SE Plus having a screen size of 5.5 inches, others say it could have a 6.1-inch panel. JP Morgan Chase believes that Apple will borrow the 6.1-inch design of the iPhone 11 for the iPhone SE 3.

Analyst Ross Young of DisplaySearch believes that Apple will opt for a 6.1-inch LCD screen on what he’s calling the iPhone SE 3, but that model won’t surface until 2023.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone SE Plus won’t have Face ID but will instead feature a Touch ID sensor that’s integrated into the power button on the right side of the phone. That would make a 6.1-inch iPhone SE Plus a lot more likely and closer to a full-screen design.

As for the screen itself, we expect an LCD panel as opposed to an OLED one, which would allow Apple to keep the price down. All four iPhone 13 models offer OLED screens, so an LCD iPhone SE Plus would make sense.

The most interesting rumor is that the iPhone SE Plus could have no ports at all. Apple is said to be working on a an iPhone that is portless, and Front Page Tech’s Jon Prosser says that it many not be a flagship device.

A portless iPhone would allow Apple to ditch the Lightning port and experiment with new features, such as a dock connector without taking too big a risk with something like the iPhone 13. But for now it’s hard to say whether Apple would make this bold of a move with the iPhone SE Plus.

Do You Really Need 5g

Carriers like Verizon are continuing to expand their 5G networks.

With the new iPhone SE’s launch, the iPhone 11 is now the only phone Apple sells that doesn’t support 5G. Is that a big deal? The answer is a bit complicated.

The short answer? No, you don’t need 5G today, especially if you’re satisfied with the speeds you’re getting from your current 4G device. But you’ll probably want 5G in the next two to three years.

Even then, you probably don’t need to worry about your 4G phone becoming obsolete anytime soon. Carriers are only just preparing to phase out 3G networks in 2022 after the network launched 20 years ago in 2002. If 4G LTE networks follow the same trajectory, carriers likely won’t begin phasing them out until roughly 2030 since these networks only beganrolling out around 2010.

Now the longer answer.

For the most part, today’s broadly available 5G networks are only slightly faster than 4G LTE, and coverage can vary depending on your location and carrier. As such, the shift to 5G probably hasn’t been very noticeable for many people just yet, and probably won’t be in the short term.

Verizon has been the most aggressive carrier in deploying this 5G flavor, but you’re likely only going to encounter it on certain street corners in major cities or in parts of certain airports, stadiums or arenas.
