Can iPhones Charge Each Other

How To Wirelessly Charge An Older iPhone

Charge your iPhone and 4 other Devices at the same time with the ScoutPro & ScoutPro Max

iPhone models older than the iPhone 8 and iPhone 11 don’t have the necessary electronics to support wireless charging, so you can’t simply add a wireless charging pad to an older iPhone and expect it to charge.

But there are a number of wireless charging cases you can purchase for an older iPhone that add wireless charging the downside, of course, is that your iPhone will only charge wirelessly while in the special case, and these cases tend to add some weight and bulk to your iPhone.

And these charging cases also take over the Lightning port, so you can’t plug anything else into that port while it’s in the case.

Even so, you might appreciate the freedom and convenience that comes from adding wireless charging to an older phone.

There are many wireless charging cases available for various iPhone models. Cases like the Mophie Juice Pack Wireless include a battery for extended runtime, and are compatible with the same Qi charging pads as newer iPhones.

How Should iPhone 11 Wireless Power Sharing Work

Among the exciting predictions that Ming-Chi Kuo yesterday was the iPhone 11 arriving with bilateral wireless charging. This could allow an iPhone to seamlessly juice up AirPods, other iPhones, or potentially any Qi-enabled device. Does this sound like a useful feature to you? How do you think it should work?

Bilateral charging, often times referred to as bidirectional charging or power sharing has previously shown up in other devices. Huawei was one of the first companies to bring wireless power sharing to smartphones with its Mate 20 Pro last fall. Samsung is also expected to bring the feature to its new flagship Galaxy S10 and S10+, which are set to be announced this week.

In a hands-on video that leaked just today, the Galaxy S10 was shown off using the bilateral wireless charging to power up the companys Galaxy Buds as well as an iPhone. While the 2018 iPad Pro supports wired power output via the updated USB-C port, and can charge just about any small device, Apple could limit what its bilateral wireless charging feature may support if it indeed comes with the iPhone 11 this fall.

Alternately, Apple could build in some limits for an iPhone with bilateral wireless charging to stop sharing its power once it hits say 20% battery.

What do you think? Does this sound like a gimmick, or do you imagine it would be useful in day to day life? Share your thoughts with the poll and comments below!

Is Cinematic Mode Any Good

Yes, it’s pretty good.

Cinematic mode is new video mode that all four iPhone 13 models that enables you to shoot video with a subject in focus and the background blurred it’s kind of like portrait mode, but for video. The difference is that Cinematic mode is able to change the which subject is in focus during the video, which it can do automatically or you can tap a subject on your iPhone to switch the focus. You can even change and edit which subject is in focus after the video is shot. The result is that makes your video have a more cinematic feel, but the problem is that it only works in 1080p at 30fps, meaning it’s not really a “Pro” feature.

Everything Apple Announced At Its September 2019 Event

Here’s everything we might see…

  • Three new mobiles: the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
  • New 7th generation iPad
  • Apple TV+ release date
  • Apple Arcade release date

Earlier this month it was reported the firm dropped the feature from its new iPhones because it simply didn’t work well enough.

Dickson’s leaks are generally pretty reliable he was one of the first to report problems with Apple’s AirPower wireless charging pad, for instance.

In March, the Sci-Fi device was seemingly shelved before it ever went on sale a full 18 months after Apple unveiled it alongside the iPhone X.

As with any rumour though, we can’t be certain this one’s true, so take Dickson’s comments with a pinch of salt.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

How To Know If Your iPhone Is Charging While Switched Off ...
  • Apple is rumored to be adding reverse wireless charging to iPhone 13.
  • The feature was first rumored to be part of the iPhone 11 lineup, and then iPhone 12.

Apple’s iPhone 13 is again rumored to be bringing reverse wireless charging to the iPhone two years after it was said to be coming to iPhone 11.

In a new video posted to YouTube, EverythingApplePro and Max Weinbach suggest that the new iPhones will come with larger wireless charging coils that could provide better heat dissipation and more speedy wireless charging. But it’s also possible the new coils could enable reverse wireless charging on an iPhone for the first time.

3 months until launch! New & Exclusive iPhone 13 Pro Leaks! Final release date, price, 12S naming, Apple Watch Series 7 getting thicker, square body confirmed, thinner bezels, In-screen Touch ID & 3nm chips in 2022 & more!

Apple was first thought to be offering reverse wireless charging back in the iPhone 11 days, but that didn’t come to fruition. The same feature was then rumored for iPhone 12 but again, no dice. Now the same rumor is back for iPhone 13.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 13 lineup in September, making it the best iPhone the company has ever built. We’re already expecting improved displays and cameras, but could reverse wireless charging also be in the cards? We don’t have too much longer to wait before we find out for sure.

How Does Reverse Wireless Charging Work

This innovative feature allows you to charge other devices wirelessly using your smartphone, as the name says. Your gadget transforms into a wireless charger, allowing other devices or accessories to use electromagnetic induction to draw power from your battery.

Regarding the question, can iPhones charge each other? this actually depends on the model of iPhone you are making use of.

With the introduction of the MagSafe battery pack, the reverse wireless charging feature became mainstream on iPhones. It was noticed because Magsafe battery packs have their charging connector, but they can also be connected to an iPhone by placing their magnetic back on iPhone gizmos. The Battery Pack then charges simultaneously with the iPhone when its plugged into a power source. When two iPhones are placed together, the feature works exactly like this.

There are speculations that this feature only works well when the power-supplying iPhone is hooked into a power source, whereas iPhones that enable this feature can still charge another iPhone without being plugged in, albeit at a lower efficiency.

For this to happen, the source devices must have enough power to share with Qi-certified devices. That is, as long as a device can be charged using a Magsafe Pack or Qi-charging, it can share its power with other devices while charging. As long as your iPhone meets this criterion, the question can my iPhone charge another phone? is answered.

How Is The iPhone 13’s Design Different From The iPhone 12 Is The iPhone 13 Lighter

The design of the all four iPhone 13 models isn’t much different from their predecessors. They have the same size screens and same flat edges. The main difference is that Apple made the notch 20-percent smaller. It still houses all the same sensors that enable FaceID, but Apple squished them tighter together so that you have a little more screen real estate. The other big difference is that all four iPhones have larger camera bumps, which means your old iPhone 12 case won’t fit.

Weight is a difference, however. The larger battery and the improved camera systems have led to all the iPhone 13 models being slightly heavier than their iPhone 12 counterparts. It’s not a huge difference, but when holding the two iPhones in either hand, the iPhone 13 models just feel slightly more dense.

What Is The Best New Feature

For me, it’s kind of a toss up between macro photography and Cinematic mode . I think I prefer macro photography because the close-up photos you take are really exceptionally detailed and in focus, and it just feels like a pro feature that everybody taking photos of flowers and food will use. It’s also just fun seeing your camera working and actually switching in and out of macro mode.

Apple Hasn’t Had Much Luck With Wireless Charging

Will Your iPhone 12/12 Pro Works With Other Wireless Charger That is Not Magsafe?

In brief: Apple’s just-announced iPhone 11 lineup reportedly packs in the necessary hardware for two-way wireless charging, a feature that was first rumored earlier this year. But before you run out and pre-order one of these devices, there’s something you should know.

Well-known Apple leaker Sonny Dickson claimed in a recent Twitter post that reliable sources have confirmed that the hardware to enable two-way wireless charging is indeed present in the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models but for whatever reason, Apple has disabled the functionality via software.

Reliable sources are saying iPhone 11 and 11 Pro do include the hardware for bilateral charging, but that it is software disabled. Uncertain whether this was removed prior to final production run.

— Sonny Dickson

Two-way, or bilateral, wireless charging allows a device – in this case, an iPhone, to not only be able to be charged wirelessly, but to share its battery power wirelessly with other devices. It effectively turns your phone into a wireless charging mat so, for example, you could charge your Apple Watch or AirPods using your iPhone.

Samsung has offered this feature for months now through what it calls Wireless PowerShare.

Is It Worth Upgrading If I Have An iPhone 12

It depends on. If you’re somebody who needs to be on the cutting edge of smartphone photography or you’ve had issues with the iPhone 12’s battery life, then I think making the jump to an iPhone 13 makes sense. That said, Apple is so ahead of the curve when it comes to chip processor and mobile photography that the iPhone 12 is still an absurdly good camera, so waiting another year to upgrade isn’t the end of the world.

Also, if the rumors are true, the iPhone 14 is expected to be the one to get the “big” redesign.

Can iPhone 13 Charge Another Phone

While users hoped there was going to be an upgrade to the reverse wireless charging present in iPhone 11 series and iPhone 12, Apple failed to include this feature on iPhone 13 series due to unknown reasons.

To summarize, the best response to the question can iPhone charge other phones is yes, since some iPhone models can. However, as previously stated, the feature is not efficient enough, so they are most likely still working on improving it before bringing it to their devices.

Qi Wireless Charging Pads

This $30 wireless charging stand can power your iPhone ...

Anker PowerWave Base Pad

This bar-shaped pad couldnt deliver full power to any of the four phones we tried it with, and at 5.8 inches by 2.8 inches by .47 inches, its as large as many smartphones, which Anker claims helps with phone alignment. It doesnt include an AC adapter by the time you add one, it costs as much as more powerful, better-looking options.

Mophie 15W Charging Pad

This compact 15W charger performed as well as the Logitech Powered Pad and Moshi Otto Q on our tests . If you prefer a status indicator that turns off after a few seconds, or like the look, its a decent option, though the AC adapter is a bit bulky, and the faux suede top tends to look disheveled unless you brush the nap in the same direction. We prefer chargers that dont require brushing. The Logitech Powered Pad costs less and feels more substantial, while the more expensive Moshi Otto Q also supports 15W charging but uses USB-C, so its more flexible, and we think it looks better.

Courant Catch:1 Essentials

The Catch:1 Essentials 10W single-device charger is beautiful, with a linen top, matte soft-touch sides and a color-matched USB-C to A cable . It has a white pinpoint charging indicator at the rear of the pad, next to the USB port it wont bother you at night, but its also hard to see without rotating the pad.

Upgrade Pick: Belkin Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad With Magsafe Special Edition

If you have an iPhone 12 or later and want a wireless charger that lets you use your phone while its chargingor you simply want the fastest wireless charging you can getwe recommend Belkins Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad with MagSafe Special Edition. The magnetic puck is faster than any other wireless charger weve tested, including Apples MagSafe Charger, and it automatically aligns itself when youre using a bare iPhone or a case with MagSafe-style magnets. An embedded kickstand on the back folds out if you want to position your phone in landscape orientation while its charging. The Belkin charger is more expensive than the Apple MagSafe Charger, though, and you have to provide your own wall adapter.

MagSafe-certified chargers offer two major benefits: perfect alignment and fast 15-watt charging, but theyre still few and far between. This Belkin charger is one of the few third-party options available.

In our speed tests using an iPhone 13, the Boost Charge Pro Portable Wireless Charger Pad was faster than any wireless charger weve ever tested, including our top pick and even Apples own MagSafe charger. Does The iPhone 13 Have Better Battery Life Than The iPhone 12

It’s noticeably better. In fact, it might be the biggest reason to upgrade from the iPhone 12. Apple gave each of its iPhone 13 models a battery that is physically larger than the one that its iPhone 12 predecessor. This, paired with Apple’s new A15 Bionic chipset, has helped each iPhone 13 have a significantly longer lasting battery.

Apple claims that the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 13 Pro should each last up to 1.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro, respectively, while the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max should each get a battery bump of up to 2.5 hours.

Bloomberg: iPhone Reverse Charging For Apple Watch And Airpods ‘unlikely In The Near Future’

Apple MagSafe Charger Hands On (Can It Work With Other iPhones?)

Apple is unlikely to allow devices like Apple Watch, AirPods, and iPhone to wirelessly charge each other “in the near future,” according to Bloomberg’s.

In a report outlining the development of MagSafe battery accessories for the iPhone 12 lineup, Bloomberg says that Apple has “internally discussed a goal of letting many of its mobile devices like Apple Watches, AirPods, and iPhones charge each other,” however, the report notes that it’s unlikely to be launched in “the near future.” With the launch of the iPhone 11 series in 2019, Apple was planning, but then later scrapped plans to allow the iPhone to reverse charge AirPods, according to the report.

Earlier this week, evidence discovered by MacRumors in iOS 14.5 hinted at a possible MagSafe battery accessory. Code within the beta software reads, “To improve charging efficiency and maximize available battery life, the battery pack will keep your phone charged at around 90%.”

Apple has been researching the ability for devices to charge each other for some time. Patents discovered in January reveal a concept of a future MacBook wirelessly charging an iPhone or Apple Watch on either side of the trackpad. The patent envisions an ecosystem in which devices are reliant on each other for charging, and presumably syncing.
