iPhone 13 Pro Vs iPhone 13 Pro Max: Design
This means the same flat-edged industrial design, with bodies made of shiny, surgical-grade stainless steel, and glass to the front and rear. The displays are again covered by Apples Ceramic Shield, which is a type of glass thats said to be four times tougher than rival efforts.
The one and only difference between these phones from a design perspective relates to size. The iPhone 13 Pro measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.65mm and weighs 204g, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max is 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.65mm and 238g.
Both handsets are available in a fresh batch of matte color options, comprising Graphite, Gold, Silver, and Sierra Blue. All are relatively muted, but the latter is really quite striking from certain angles.
Youll have to contend with much larger camera modules with both phones. They share the same size which makes more of an impact with the smaller iPhone 13 Pro.
Both are significantly larger than even last years iPhone 12 Pro Max. Neither phone will sit especially flat on a table, and last years iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max cases wont fit these devices.
One design element thats fresh to both phones is a display notch thats 20% smaller than before. Apple hasnt done anything special with this extra screen space, but at least things are moving in the right direction. Heres to a notchless future.
iPhone 12 Pro And Pro Max Vs iPhone 11 Pro And Pro Max: The Verdict In 2021
Want one of Apple’s previous Pro iPhones? The iPhone 11 and 12 are still great options, but there are some important differences to consider.
Let’s say you already know you want an iPhone, specifically the Pro version, and let’s say you’re not interested in waiting around for the iPhone 13. For those who have their eye on a Pro or Pro Max, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 are still two great options.
Or maybe you already have an iPhone 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max and are trying to decide whether to trade it in for something from Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup. The iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at a cool $1,099. Apple discontinued the 11 Pro and Pro Max when the iPhone 12 line was announced, but you can still find the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max at a discount at various retailers, sometimes as low as $625.

iPhone 12 Pro Vs iPhone 12 Pro Max Display
The reason the iPhone 12 Pro Max is so big, of course, is that it has a whopping 6.7-inch screen, dwarfing the iPhone 12 Pros 6.1-inch alternative.
Size aside, though, these displays are remarkably similar. Were looking at a pair of Super Retina XDR OLEDs, with roughly the same 460ppi pixel density, the same HDR10 credentials, and the exact same brightness specifications .
Theyre stunning screens, capable of outputting bold yet accurate colors and deep blacks. But they also share the same glaring flaw the lack of a fast refresh rate.
Neither screen can accelerate beyond 60Hz, just like their predecessors. With their Android rivals hitting 90Hz or even 120Hz as a matter of course, this is a bit of an oversight.
Especially when Apple set the standard for Pro-themed 120Hz display technology with ProMotion, which made its debut in the 2017 iPad Pro. It should really have made its way into these two Pro phones, too, maybe as a point of difference to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini.
Besides this downer, we found both screens to be among the best out there at rendering images and video.
Size And Design: All iPhone 13 Models Have A 20% Smaller Notch
All four versions of the iPhone 13 are thicker and heavier than their 2020 counterparts, but with smaller notches. Apple has included a notched display on every iPhone since the 2017 iPhone X, as a place for the selfie camera. The iPhone 13’s notch is 20% smaller than it was on the iPhone 12.
The design of the camera setup shifted for the iPhone 13 Mini. The camera lenses are now situated diagonally from each other, rather than one atop the other like on the iPhone 12 Mini.
The iPhone 13 lineup ranges in screen size from 5.4 inches to 6.7 inches. The iPhone 13 Mini is 5.4 inches, the standard iPhone 13 and Pro models are both 6.1 inches and the Pro Max is 6.7 inches.

iPhone 14 Pro Vs iPhone 13 Pro: Outlook
The update from iPhone 13 Pro to iPhone 14 Pro looks like it will be pretty dramatic. The new notch design, 48MP camera, improved chipset and improved always-on display would all certainly set the iPhone 14 Pro apart from its predecessor,
These changes may come at a literal cost, though, and a price hike doesn’t sound great in this economy. Also we’re a little apprehensive about the punch hole and pill-shaped notch and whether they’ll prove more distracting than the current design.

Color Finish And Extras
After six months of use without a case, the backs of both the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro still didn’t have a single scratch or scuff. The textured matte glass back on the iPhone 11 Pro feels soft, smooth and durable. The phone is easy to grip and never feels like it’s going to slip out of my hand . I’m happy to say that fingerprint smudges don’t accumulate easily.
The iPhone 11, meanwhile, has a glossy glass back, which does feel slippery in my hand and the phone is prone to smudges, too.
As far as colors, the iPhone 11 gets things more right than the 11 Pro. You can buy an iPhone 11 in six bright and fun colors. The 11 Pro is less flashy and comes in four rather serious finishes . In a perfect world, I could have the matte glass finish of the 11 Pro and the color options of the 11.
The iPhones have wireless charging and support fast charging, but only the iPhone 11 Pro comes with the 18-watt charger that’s required for fast charging. It’s aggravating that the 11 doesn’t come with this charger and that you’ll have to buy it separately if you want it. To make matters worse, Apple charges $29 for the 18-watt fast charger and $19 for the required cable, when cheaper compatible alternatives are available.Winner: On colors alone, the iPhone 11 takes this one.

iPhone 13 Pro And Pro Max Review: Apple Saved The Real Upgrade For The Pros
A phone can be endowed with the fastest processor in the world, but if its saddled with a slow screen, it could still feel sluggish especially when compared to a similarly equipped device with a faster panel. Thats why the iPhone 13 Pros most important new feature is its ProMotion display.
But ProMotion is only included on the Pro and Pro Max models this year, making it one of the features that differentiate them from the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, not to mention last years 12 Pro. For an extra $200 to $300, the Pro series also offers an additional telephoto camera, a new macro photography mode, as well as more power and endurance. But are the iPhone 13 Pros new cameras and screens worth the extra money?
- Some promised features arent available yet
- Automatic macro switching is fussy
- Still waiting on an update to enable ProRes and SharePlay
- Macro mode is fickle

If I say that Apples recent release of the new iPhone 12 Pro Max is certainly a game-changer for consumers, it wont be wrong at all. The vastly improved camera quality, which is on par with DSLRs, along with the longer battery life and faster processor will be enough for most people.
And while some may say that it shares too many features with the original iPhone12, Apple has made sure to introduce enough new features to justify its own existence. The Pro Max having a larger display. There are also two different processors, with one being more powerful than the other. Finally, the camera has different features on each phone.

The iPhone 13 Pro Has A Longer Telephoto Camera
The main camera has a new sensor, the largest ever put into an iPhone. It has a faster f1.5 aperture lens, which equates to improved light gathering. The ultrawide has a new auto focus sensor and lens that also improves light gathering. And last, the telephoto camera gets a new sensor and lens with a longer 3x optical zoom.
Using the Pro iPhones did result in brighter photos, but the improvement wasn’t always obvious. I also noticed that photos had fast shutter speeds, which resulted in freezing action better, like when I took a shot of people riding bikes.
Take a look at photos I took with both phones in the gallery below.
Which One Should You Buy
As for which one to buy, thats easy. As its name implies, the iPhone 13 Pro is intended for more professional-oriented users. It has a bigger screen, a better camera array, and another GPU core when compared vs. the base model. For $100 bucks more, thats really not a bad deal. Still, theres not much that the Pro models do that the basic model will not. Unless youre laser-focused on having the best camera possible, the standard iPhone 13 is still the one to buy.
